How to wash pillows in washing machine: Step-by-step guideline:

There are some steps that you have to follow in this washing process. Let’s know them one by one.

Step 1: Read The Instructions

At first, read the instructions on the label carefully. If it is mentioned that this pillow is machine washable, only then you can clean it using a washing machine with appropriate laundry detergent. If there is no label on the pillow, take it to a laundry expert and ask him/her about the washing process of that.

Step 2: Take Off The Cover

Pull out the pillowcase of your pillow (if there is any).

Step 3: Use Stain Remover

Try to find if there is any kind of stain on the pillow. If you find any, apply stain removers on that particular area of the pillow.

Step 4: Place The Pillow Inside The Washing Machine

For this purpose, you can use a front or a top-loading washing machine without an agitator.

However, a top-loading machine with an agitator is also applicable. Just place the pillows vertically to protect those from getting damaged and agitate only for a few minutes. If you have a large machine, then wash more than one pillow at a time to balance the load.

Step 5: Add Detergent And Start Washing

To wash pillows, use regular washing detergent. There are different types of pillow fills. And try to follow the instructions given below to wash different types of pillow fills-

Use cool water and detergent to wash the pillows with down or feather fills.

Wash pillows with polyester fills with slightly warm water and use a gentle cycle.

Adjust the setting to run the washer through an extra rinse cycle with high spin. Then start the machine.

Step 6: Dry The Pillows

After finishing the washing cycle, it is time to dry it up perfectly. For drying there are two ways. You can either air-dry your pillow or you can use a dryer.

To air-dry the pillow, hang the pillow on the clothesline. You need to move around the fluff frequently to make sure it dries up perfectly. While using a dryer, put the pillow inside the dryer and adjust the setting to no-heat air-dry.

Put a few tennis balls or dryer balls inside the dryer to speed up the process. It also helps to prevent clumping.

Step 7: Test The Dryness

After completing all the steps stated above, check the pillow whether there is any dampness. If there is any, repeat the drying process and check the pillow again.
